They say that golfing in China is expensive. To the contrary, they are priced well below what you might think. I had the pleasure of playing The Huatang International Golf Club, east of Beijing China, in Yanjiao last November 2008. I believe my price to play a round was about $125 CAD. The lady caddies were absolutely tremendous. My caddy had been caddy-ing for about 10 years. She knew every nuance about this gem of a course. It is a course that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. It’s built on flat land, yet the designers built great undulation wherever you look. It’ not a busy course so take your time to enjoy it. On your next trip to Beijing, I highly recommend it as a must play course.

1. Exit Vancouver via 12th Avenue (Grandview Hwy)
2. Proceed east onto the Highway #1 (TransCanada Hwy)
3. Follow the Highway #1 to Exit #44
4. Follow Exit #44 to Highway #7 (Lougheed Hwy).
5. Proceed along the #7 until the intersection of Lougheed & Barnet
6. Turn left on Barnet (across from the Coquitlam Centre Mall)
7. Take your next right on Johnson Street
8. For the Country Club – follow Johnson Street up the hill. The Country Club will be on your right
9. For the Academy – follow Johsnon Street up the hill to the intersection of Johnson Street and Parkway (Petro-Canada will be on the right hand side). Turn left on Parkway and follow it up the hill. The Academy will be on your left
10. Approximate time – 40 to 60 minutes depending on traffic

1. Proceed through the border on Hwy #99
2. Take the King George Hwy Exit #99A. Turn right on Hwy #10
3. Exit on 152nd Street and follow 152nd Street north
4. Follow signs to the Highway #1 West (TransCanada Hwy)
5. Take Highway #1 over the Port Mann Bridge to Exit #44. Follow Exit #44 to Highway #7 East (Lougheed Hwy)
6. Proceed along Highway #7 until the intersection of Lougheed Hwy. and Barnet
7. Turn left on Barnet (across from the Coquitlam Centre Mall)
8. Take your next right on Johnson Street

Check out this hidden jewel of a golf course in Guatemala. Fuego Maya Golf course at The La Reunion Resort, just outside the city of Guatemala will offer you the most amazing golf and the challenge is to stay focused on your shots. Two active volcanos overlook the resort and everywhere are incredible vistas of the countryside. On a good day you can see the Pacific Ocean. I was blown away by another of Pete Dye’s course. Look for his proverbial tree in the middle of the fairway. To say the least, this is most beautiful golf course that I have had the pleasure of playing. Check it out at: www.lareunion.com.gt
